Help Fight Hunger In America

Empty Bowls Dinner
The greater pittsburgh Community Food Bank will hold it's annual Empty Bowls Dinner this week.
You are invited to a simple meal of soup and bread. In exchange for a cash donation, guests are asked to keep a bowl as a reminder of all the empty bowls in the world. The money raised is donated to the community food bank, working to end hunger  in America.
Local potters and other craftspeople, donate handmade ceramic and pottery bowls in a variety of shapes, colors and sizes.  Over 30 restaurants and caterers donate bread and soup. Together, they compose a simple meal to remind people that there are thousands of “empty bowls” in our region. Tickets are 20.00, it includes your choice of one bowl to take home and your meal. There will also be children’s activities, local celebrity soup-servers, bake sale, silent auction of ceramic art, and soup-to-go!
You can make a difference, right here, in your local community! Together, we can put an end to hunger in America!

Foodies Beware!

As much as I love making jewelry, I love creating with food more. Cooking is my first love, so when I read the article in the Atlantic magazine by B.R Myers, The Moral Crusade Against Foodies.I have to say I took a side. I'm a foodie even if he thinks it isn't cool!
One of my favorite shows is Anthony Bourdains, No Reservations. Yes, he can be quite crude, but I love that I can gain knowledge on what people around the world are eating. I love learning about the different cultures, with food being the main topic!
As far as eating out, I don't agree with charging outrageous prices, for say, a plate of ravioli, with two raviolies and a tablespoon of sauce for 18.00.The atmospheres are not always that great anyhow, I'll stay home and make it myself thank you .
Loving food does not always mean you are a glutton. There are limits to everything.
Foodies Unite!!

Blue Lace Agate

I finally got this necklace done! I ordered a sterling silver chain and was not satisfied with the quality so I ordered a different style chain. I was given the two larger pieces to work with and this is what I came up with. The customer was well pleased and I am so glad!

Treasuries!

Country Winter Fine Art Photo
by Dahlia House Studios
One of the wonderful ways to shop at etsy.com is through thier treasury catagory. Treasuries are created by the members of etsy. They can include some really interesting items. If a seller has created a treasury (usually a compilation of thier favorite items) it will be listed on thier profile page. Visit my shop to see the latest treasury I have created called  Snuggling Up To Winter. Just a few things to help you breeze through the winter season!
